Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend" Gets 180g Reissue

Plain Recordings has recently announced a vinyl reissue of Matthew Sweet's Power-Pop masterpiece LP Girlfriend. Originally released in 1991, Girlfriend was a huge breakthrough for Sweet both musically and commercially and remains one a hallmark of early 90s college rock.

Because of its' release in the heyday of the compact disc, Girlfriend received only a small run on vinyl and has been out of print ever since. Discogs recently had copies for sale starting at $189! The new pressing will be on 180g vinyl and features original artwork, including that adorable cover photo of Tuesday Weld.

Of course, the quality of releases from Plain Recordings has created some differing opinions. Girlfriend hits the streets on Oct. 21. You can pre-order it here.
