American Aboriginal Music Revealed On 'Native North America Vol. 1'

Reissue label Light In The Attic (the label that brought you the return of Sixto Rodriguez of Searching For Sugarman) has compiled a 3 LP set entitled Native North America, Vol. 1, filled with unknown and obscure American Aboriginal music.

The 34 song set features songs and recordings by indigenous peoples from Canada and the northern United States. These largely unheard and undiscovered songs represent not only a diverse group of artists from a sadly ignored culture, but also are a reflection of a 12 year odyssey by the folks at Light In The Attic to help this work see the light of day.

The three LP set includes a 60 page booklet with photos and stories of all the artists featured. A beautiful trailer is now available below. Be sure to check it out to hear some of the songs featured on the set and to meet some of the people whose voice is finally being heard.

Native North America, Vol. 1 will be out on November 25 via Light In The Attic. You can pre-order here.

nico's "the end" celebrates 40th anniversary with deluxe pressing

German chanteuse, Nico - she of the icy gaze, the droning voice and the appearance on the first Velvet Underground LP - released The End 40 years ago. To celebrate, British label Music On Vinyl is releasing a 2 LP set on 180 gram vinyl. In addition to the original songs from the John Cale produced record, the new version of The End includes several Peel sessions and two cuts from the British TV show, 'The Old Grey Whistle Test'. This pressing marks the first time any of those songs have been available on vinyl.

The deluxe version of Nico's The End is out on Music On Vinyl on November 3. Watch a clip below that includes audio of "Secret Side" recorded during the sessions for the 'Old Grey Whistle Test'.
